Owner/trainer:Christina Peters About The Training About the Instructor About The Trainer’s Training I studied locally with Aleita Downer of Cape-Able Canines, completing a 2 yr. apprenticeship. Aleita Downer is a knowledgeable trainer with 20+ years of experience. Before opening her own business she worked with Canine Support Teams, an organization that provides service dogs for persons with disabilities, other than blindness. My course of study included participating in approximately 5 classes/week Topics included all aspects of pet dog and service dog training; how dogs learn and communicate, the origin and how to deal with problem behaviors, breed characteristics, aggression; types, causes & cures, and understanding dogs body language. To further my education I have studied Canine behavior at Wolf Park in Indiana, a research and educational facility. There I attended seminars by the parks director, Erich Klinghammer Ph.D, Dr. Raymond Coppinger, and Suzanne Clothier. I then traveled to Toronto Canada and New York, to further my studies with Suzanne Clothier. In 2009 I attended the Association of Pet Dog Trainers Annual Conference. The speakers included Ian Dunbar, Patricia McConnell Ph. D., and Turid Ruugas. I’m proud to belong to P.S.P.A, a trade association that represents the best and highest standards of the pet industry, and a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. Serving the communities of La Mesa, El Cajon, Rancho San Diego, Jamul, and Casa De Oro California. |
